He is a member of the Inter Secretarial Commission on Biosafety of GMOs in Mexico and a founding member of the World Water Organization (OMAR) and its Scientific Committee, which established a Botanical Center in Santuario, Colombia using seawater for agriculture and human use. Dr. Rueda Puente has authored over 100 scientific articles and supervises undergraduate and graduate students.
Research Interest:
Global food production faces the imperative challenge of ensuring plant-based supplies that meet sustainability, quality, and food safety standards. In this scenario, the agronomic engineer emerges as a strategic actor capable of transforming agri-food systems. However, economic pressures have historically diverted sustainability criteria, resulting in agriculture dependent on agrochemicals that compromises consumer health. This phenomenon finds a parallel in conventional medicine, where the focus has shifted toward commercial interests over the patient's overall well-being. In response, a transformative alternative arises: the convergence of organic and sustainable agriculture with the principles of Functional Medicine and Human Nutrition. The central proposal of this conference is to redefine the agricultural engineer as a public health agent who, by promoting food sovereignty and reducing pesticide use, directly impacts the creation of health from the ground up. Adopting an approach centered on the individual and the biological quality of food allows us to move from a model that cures diseases to one that generates vital well-being.This presentation, delivered to the Global Scientific Community, integrates scientific evidence with the wisdom of Functional Medicine and is enriched by the vision of Dr. Beatriz Boullosa, a leading figure in nutrition in Mexico and President of the Mexican Federation of Sports Nutrition. By reorienting agricultural production toward nutritional excellence, we restore the human dimension to our technical and social work.
